During my lifetime, I’ve come across a handful of books that changed my outlook on things, helped me to understand the world around me, and made me a better person. These are the books that I recommend to everyone. Whether you’re looking to improve your life or simply curious about the world around you, there is at least one of these books for you.

I’ve read and listened to a lot of books in my half-century on this planet. Most of them were not memorable in any way. There are a few, however, that stand out as having a profound impact on me and the way I live my life.

Below is a list of each of those books that caused me to reconsider sincerely-held beliefs and opinions. It is not an exhaustive list. Though the books here are all non-fiction, there have been a few fiction books that also affected me. I may list them in another post some day.

Without further adieu, here are the top seven “most influential” books of my adult life. These books shaped who I am, informed many of my decisions, and continue to challenge how I think.
