I began my software development journey in 1981 as a high school freshman. The "data processing" teacher took pity on me and let me come into the computer lab after school. There I taught myself BASIC on the county's HP 3000 minicomputer. From there, I learned Pascal and eventually C and C++.
For years after high school, I worked various jobs unlrelated to software development. In 1992 I moved to New Hampshire and worked for an Apple reseller until 1995. It was then I finally got my first professional developer gig.
Other than a 2-year hiatus in 2005-2006, I have been a softare developer ever since. Today I am a Lead Software Developer at Disney Parks.
I write articles about my life experiences, both personal and professional.
